Where: New Deal Distillery

LET um EAT Takes Over New Deal Distillery

It constantly amazes us how many small-batch, craft products are coming out of Portland: from chocolate, salt, sauces & preserves, to beer and spirits. Tom Burkleaux and Matthew VanWinkle of New Deal Distillery were the ones who paved the craft-distilling road in Portland, starting the smallest licensed distillery in America in 2004. Since the beginning, they’ve been supportive of the local food & beverage and farm-to-table movement: sourcing grains for their whiskey & rum from Bob’s Red Mill and even commissioning their custom mill from a nearby manufacturer.

This dinner celebrates Portland: with cocktails using New Deal spirits and a menu featuring ingredients from urban farms, including The Side Yard Farm and Simpson St Farm in NE Portland.

As it reads on the back of the New Deal vodka bottle “Made by local folks for local folks”. Cheers to that.
