Seed The Movie

Seed: The Untold Story Screenings in Portland and Nationally

SEED: THE UNTOLD STORY is a feature-length documentary by Portland-based Collective Eye Films. The film features Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbell, and Winona LaDuke and follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000-year old food legacy. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds.

SEED: The Untold Story won the Eco Hero Award at the Portland EcoFilm Festival, Green Planet Award at Rhode Island International Film Festival, the Discovery Environmental Award at Sheffield and the Grand Jury Prize at the Nashville Film Festival, to name a few.

This week, the film is showing in its hometown of Portland, on November 2nd and 6th, and includes a special Q&A with the filmmakers (more details below!) Check the film’s website for a screening near you. If you don’t see a screening near you and are interested in bringing the film to your town, you can opt to be a movie captain and use Gathr to do so. More about that here.
