Sketchin’ Chefs: New Trend?

I recently realized that I’ve been seeing a number of sketches of chefs, in online articles, blog posts and for promo materials. Sort of a new take on using the same old headshots that every PR company and restaurant website is using. Plus they’re pretty amusing. Take a look at all the sketches I managed to round up.

Chefs Week PDX

From Chefs Week PDX 2016, an annual chef-focused culinary series in Portland bringing together chefs and makers from up and down the West coast. Recognize anyone? Try spotting Vitaly Paley (Paley’s Place), BJ Smith (Smokehouse Tavern), Joshua McFadden (Ava Gene’s) and Jeff Scheer (Mill House Restaurant).

 

On topcheffanatics.com they’ve sketched three of the judges Hugh Acheson (Five and Ten), Richard Blais (Juniper & Ivy) and Tom Colicchio (Craft) as well as some of the cheftestants, including Adam Harvey, Mei Lin, Gregory Gourdet (Departure Restaurant + Lounge) and Douggie Adams (Imperial).

Paolo Lucchesi of San Francisco’s Inside Scoop published an article about how Michelin-starred chefs David Kinch (Manresa) and Daniel Patterson (Coi) had influenced a whole new generation of chefs. Close ups on some of the restaurants’ alumni below.
