Instagram is a great way to learn what other people in the food community are up to. These 5 #Feeders cook, eat and live well, to say the least. If you don’t follow them already, you sure should.

Why we love @pdxoystersocial: Oysters and the Pacific Northwest – who doesn’t like photos of these things? Jaret Foster and Mona Johnson are the duo behind PDX Oyster Social and Fosters Craft Cooking. They stage dreamy looking events with live fire and local ingredients and do pop-up oyster parties in bars and restaurants around Portland. Plus they’re wonderful folks that the LET um EAT crew has the pleasure of knowing. If you have the chance to attend one of their events, do! And if you’re not able to, at least follow them online. (p.s. @monajohnson’s feed is a great one too!)

Why we love @mosquitosupperclub: The LET um EAT team is getting ready to go to New Orleans at the end of the month for the Collision Conference and we’re excited to expand The Collective and meet some Seeders and Feeders there. We came across Melissa Martin’s Mosquito Supper Club in our research and are totally enchanted by her weekly dinners. Melissa’s Cajun cooking is inspired by local fishers and farmers including Four Winds Seafood, Roche Family Farms and Feliciana’s Dairy. We’re looking forward to learning more about the culture and food of New Orleans through Melissa and her dinner on April 28!

Why we love @bakerhands: We fell in love with Tara and her beautiful mountain bakery along with thousands of other Bon Appetit readers when she was featured in their February issue. At her tiny wood-fired bakery located outside of Asheville, NC, Tara’s life is structured around the rhythm of the oven. In addition to baking bread and pies for a few local storefronts and events, she also hosts pizza nights (which people attend from far and wide) and baking workshops. Her goal? “To use my business for social justice, community organizing, and individual empowerment.” If you missed the Bon Appetit article, you should really read it – it’s a beautiful piece that paints an irresistible picture of Tara’s life and passion. You won’t be able to help but fall in love with her as well.

Why we love @chef_timothy: We’ve been following Chef Timothy since he left his longtime position at The French Laundry and went to Los Angeles to open a sweet BBQ spot called Barrel and Ashes, quite the opposite from his 3-star roots. His most recent project, Otium LA, in the brand new Broad Museum, is next level – the build out included flying kitchen equipment over downtown LA with a helicopter. The result is a stunning restaurant where they’re serving equally gorgeous food, some of which is even growing on the rooftop courtesy of LA Urban Farms.

Why we love @fleshforfood: We all follow people we think are interesting and cool on Instagram, but how many do we actually reach out and make an effort to connect with in person? Drew and Amanda from Flesh For Food recently made a trip out to Oregon and made a point to come and meet the LET um EAT crew and see the farm. Turns out we have a lot in common: these two are all about community, whether it’s collaborative events or sending shout outs to their fellow Seeders and Feeders in Chicago and beyond. It’s relationships like this that will help expand LET um EAT and bring more recognition to the hardworking chefs, farmers and producers everywhere.
